A PAIR OF BRONZE HANGING GAME SIGNED P. COMOLERA,
one a plover, the other a partridge, each mounted on an oak plinth signed in red 'P COMOLERA', plinths measuring approx. 18 1/2in. x 13 1/2in., birds approx. 15in. foot to beak.
Other Notes: Paul Comolera was a very fine artist born in Paris in 1818. Known mostly for his sculptures of birds he was a student of the early sculptor Francois Rude and went on to mentor Jules Moigniez, one of the most prominent sculptors of the Anamalier school. Comolera's bronzes were cast by the foundries of A. Gouge and Susse Freres and are highly prized for their great detail, accuracy and naturalistic style.
