28in. sleeved nitro reproved barrels, ribs re-engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. 314 1/2, OXFORD STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID-PRESSED STEEL' and scroll engraved at the breech ends, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, self-opening actions with striker discs, carved fleur-de-lys fences, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, arrow cocking-indicators, best bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 15 1/2in. well-figured stocks including 1 1/2in. leather-covered recoil pads, weight 6lb. 11oz., in a Holland & Holland brass-cornered oak and leather case. The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in July 1882 as non-ejector guns.
