A .75 'PATTERN 1842' PERCUSSION SERVICE MUSKET,
dated '1844', with 39in. sighted barrel, border engraved dated lock marked 'ENFIELD' and with 'VR' cypher, walnut three-quarter stock (cracked through and repaired at the hand, left side of comb reprofiled), marked with broad arrow and 'WD' on the left side of the butt and with stockmaker's name opposite the lock, brass mounts, Lovell bayonet-catch, iron sling mounts, and incomplete iron ramrod (iron parts heavily patinated throughout), War Dept. inspection marks.
