A FRENCH 28-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN,
early 19th century, converted from flintlock, with 82cm. barrels with feint 'CANON CORDU' signature and retaining traces of gilding, silver fore-sight, border and foliate engraved tang and flat locks, the latter respectively signed 'LE PAGE' and 'A PARIS' in gold, figured walnut half-stock with raised cheek-piece, grip and fore-end chequered with waved lines, carved in relief with a stag's head beneath the grip, cast and chased silver mounts including butt-plate decorated in relief with a boar on the tang and trigger-guard with a ram's head on the bow surmounting a scene involving a stag being set upon by hounds and hanging game on the finial, silver escutcheon and shaped barrel-bolt escutcheons and rear sling mount escutcheon, front sling mount (rear mount missing), and later horn-tipped ramrod (barrels with surface corrosion).
