A VERY RARE 7.65mm 'MODEL 1899' SELF-LOADING POCKET PISTOL RETAILED BY WALTER LOCKE & CO., serial no. A61,
10cm. nitro barrel, blued slide marked with retailer's address 'WALTER LOCKE & CO. LTD. CALCUTTA, SIMLA & LAHORE' on the right side, blued frame (patch of corrosion in front of trigger-guard), and chequered black plastic grips with facsimile of the pistol and 'FN' monogram in the upper part of each grip, probably factory refinish throughout.
Other Notes: FN produced approximately 3900 Model 1899 pistols in two frame sizes. It is very similar to the familar Model 1900 but has smaller grips retained by slotted nuts and a non-reinforced breech area on the frame. Both the Model 1899 and the Model 1900 had their own serial number range beginning at '1'. With the inevitable overlap of identical numbers on outwardly very similar pistols the factory used the letter 'A' as a prefix to identify the earlier model.
