A 45-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION PARK RIFLE, serial no. 6180,
circa 1850, with 30 1/4in. octagonal twist barrel signed 'GEORGE & JOHN DEANE. 30, KING WILLIAM ST. LONDON BRIDGE', bead fore-sight, rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves, scroll engraved recessed patent breech with platinum plug, border and scroll engraved tang and lock (hammer incomplete), the latter signed 'GEORGE & JOHN DEANE', figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip, adjustable set trigger, scroll engraved iron mounts including hinged patchbox-cover and pistolgrip trigger-guard (older reblue to mounts), and gold escutcheon engraved with a crest and initials (some surface corrosion, discolouration and wear throughout, ramrod missing), London proof marks.
