A FINE CASED .455 'WS TARGET MODEL' SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, serial no. 452695,
7 1/2in. blued barrel, blued cylinder and frame, bright hammer and trigger, chequered walnut grips, blued lanyard ring, and nearly all its original finish, in canvas case lined in green baize.

Other Notes: This revolver was sold on 25th April 1927 by Gallyon & Son, Cambridge to Lieutenant The Viscount Hinchingbrooke of the 5th Huntingdonshire Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment.

Alexander Victor Edward Paulet Montagu (22nd May 1906 - 25th February 1995) was created Viscount Hinchingbrooke in 1916 and became the 10th Earl of Sandwich in 1962. He was a member of the House of Commons between 1941 and 1962 when he had to give up his seat in the Commons on becoming Lord Sandwich on the death of his father. Sandwich disclaimed his peerages in 1964 and although he did not sit in the Commons again he was president of the Anti-Common Market League from 1962 until 1984.
