A 9-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION WILDFOWLING GUN, serial no. 1023,
circa 1846-49, with 30 1/4in. shortened twist sighted barrels with feint signature 'JOSEPH KEMP. 31 DUKE ST. GLOUCESTER SQUARE, LONDON' on the rib, border and scroll engraved patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug and inlaid with a single gold-line on the rib, border and scroll engraved tang and locks, the latter each signed 'JOSEPH KEMP' (both hammers working replacements), figured walnut pistolgrip half-stock (some scattered bruising, small chip to left edge of fore-end) with chequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts (engraving worn), silver escutcheon, and iron-tipped ramrod with worm (iron parts with some surface corrosion marking and discolouration throughout), London proof marks.
