mid-19th century, with 48in. two-stage fine stub twist sighted barrel, scroll engraved breech with platinum plug and inlaid with two platinum lines, border and scroll engraved tang and back-action lock (hammer a working replacement), the latter signed 'WALTON & CO.', walnut half-stock with chequered grip (cracked opposite the lock), border and scroll engraved reblued iron mounts (engraving worn), white metal barrel-bolt escutcheons, dark horn fore-end cap, and associated brass-tipped ramrod (barrel discoloured, engraving to lock worn), Birmingham proof marks.
