* A FINE AND ELABORATE 24-BORE VICTORIAN GILT WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL, THE LOCK SIGNED FELIX WEERDER,
with 12 7/8in. gilt polygonal barrel with octagonal foliate and scroll engraved breech section, border engraved tang, foliate and scroll engraved flat bevelled gilt lock and pan-cover, exposed wheel and turned cock, the inside of the lock-plate signed 'FELIX WEERDER FECIT ...' (signature partially obscured by the mainspring), blackened full stock, gilt trigger, gilt ramrod-pipe and trigger-guard engraved en suite with the lock and barrel, gilt cast and chased grotesque mask pommel, and brass-tipped ramrod.

Other Notes: The original Felix Weerder is recorded in Zurich in circa 1650. A wheel-lock pistol attributed to King Charles I is recorded in the 1915 edition of the Metropolitan Museum of Art 'Handbook of Arms & Armor'.
