A RARE 54-BORE SEVEN-BARREL PERCUSSION SPORTING VOLLEY GUN,
circa 1835-40, with 22 5/8in. rebrowned slightly shortened turn-off smoothbore barrel-cluster formed of six barrels surrounding the centrally mounted seventh barrel and with full length raised rib above signed 'NEWARK' and ramrod pipes beneath, border engraved tang and breech-face with centrally fitted screw-thread for the barrel-cluster, the head of which channelled for simultaneous ignition of all seven barrels, border, scroll and game scene engraved back-action lock signed 'BOALER & WELCH / NEWARK', figured walnut butt with chequered grip (probably a working replacement), iron mounts including pistolgrip trigger-guard, and later brass-tipped ramrod (some light discolouration to iron parts), London proof marks.
