circa 1855-57, with 18in. two-stage blued sighted barrel, tang marked 'GREENE'S PATENT / JUNE 27. 1854', back-action lock with tape-primer marked 'MAYNARD'S PATENT / SEP. 22. 1845', the lock marked with 'VR' cypher and 'MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS / U.S.A. 1856', walnut butt, iron mounts including patch-box cover, and iron suspension ring (some light surface corrosion marking to mounts and barrel, barrel with older refinish), numerous War Dept. inspection marks, obsolete / sold out of service marks to breech.
