A RARE BELGIAN .50 (RIMFIRE) SPENCER 'MODEL 1865' REPEATING CAVALRY CARBINE, serial no. 2355,
20in. barrel sighted to 800 yards and rifled with six grooves, receiver marked 'UNION ARMURIERE BELGE / LIEGE' on the upper flat and marked 'FT' behind the breech-block, magazine cut-off device, back-action lock, 13in. walnut half-stock, iron saddle-bar and suspension-ring, iron butt-plate with loading aperture for tubular magazine (some scattered patches of corrosion throughout), Liege proof.
Other Notes: It is believed that the firm of Falisse & Trapmann manufactured a series of Spencer copies in 1873 for the Brazilian cavalry to compliment their existing stock of U.S. made Spencer carbines.
