A 20-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL,
third quarter of the 18th century, with swamped 7 1/2in. barrel with short sighting flat at the breech, rounded border and scroll engraved lock with feint signature, figured walnut full stock (cracked through and repaired around the lock, two expert insert repairs) inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and a shell around the barrel-tang, silver trophy of arms side-plate and grotesque mask pommel, silver ramrod-pipes, engraved iron trigger-guard, and later horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts polished bright, some scattered pitting), Birmingham private proof marks, barrelsmith's mark 'T.P'.
