A 16-BORE PERCUSSION OFFICER'S RIFLE OF SIMILAR FORM TO A PATTERN 1776 SERVICE RIFLE,
converted from flintlock, early 19th century, with 30in. twist tapering octagonal barrel rifled with seven grooves and engraved with a band of foliage at the breech, silver blade fore-sight, rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves, iron tang, engraved flat bevelled bolted lock signed 'MORRIS' (later safety-catch), walnut full stock (chipped behind barrel-tang, cracked in front of lock), brass mounts including pistolgrip trigger-guard, butt-plate and hinged patchbox-cover each engraved with martial trophy, iron sling mounts, iron fore-end cap cut on each side for a P.1776 type stirrup ramrod (never fitted to this barrel), associated iron ramrod (iron parts with some surface corrosion), Tower private proof marks.
