A DUTCH 60-BORE PERCUSSION SCHUTZEN TARGET RIFLE,
mid-19th century, with 76cm. rebrowned swamped octagonal barrel (small ring bulge) signed 'J.G. ZELLER TE ARNHEM' in silver towards the breech, blade fore-sight, rear quadrant sight, border and scroll engraved breech and long tang, the latter fitted with an aperture target sight in a mounting-block, border and scroll engraved detented lock signed 'J.G. ZELLER TE ARNHEM' and decorated with a scene involving a recumbent stag on the tail, set triggers, figured walnut half-stock with raised cheek-piece, chequered grip and fore-end each bordered by carved scrollwork, the butt carved in low relief with a stag in a wooded landscape behind the cheek-piece, iron mounts including border and scroll engraved scrolled pistolgrip trigger-guard and hooked butt-plate, the former with a vignette involving a further stag, the latter with a vignette involving a boar, iron sling mounts, and brass-mounted rosewood ramrod.
