A CONTINENTAL 18-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN,
second half of the 18th century, with 38in. two-stage sighted barrel with fluted breech-section, enlarged brass-lined touch-hole, border engraved tang, rounded lock signed 'P. GIRARD' (steel refaced), walnut half-stock (reduced from full, repaired in front of lock) with raised cheek-piece, engraved brass mounts including solid side-plate, horn fore-end cap (chipped), iron sling mounts, and later horn-tipped ramrod (iron parts cleaned with some scattered pitting).
