A PAIR OF 54-BORE PERCUSSION BOXLOCK BELT PISTOLS,
circa 1840, with 4 1/4in. octagonal sighted barrels each engraved with a band of foliage at the muzzle, signed 'NEW ORLEANS' and inlaid with a single silver line at the breech, foliate engraved white metal actions each signed 'V. LIBEAU' above the breech, iron belt hooks, chequered walnut butts, white metal escutcheons, engraved white metal butt-caps each with hinged iron trap-cover, foliate engraved iron trigger-guards, iron stirrup ramrods (iron parts discoloured with some pitting throughout, one nipple incomplete), Birmingham proof marks.
