28in. blued barrel signed 'W.J. JEFFERY & CO. / 60 QUEEN VICTORIA STREET. LONDON', block-mounted bead fore-sight, block-mounted rear-sight of one standing and three folding leaves calibrated to 400 yards and each with platinum-inlaid centre-line, case-hardened action (firing pin not retracting correctly) marked 'FARQUHARSON'S PATENT 143' on the right side, separate blued trigger-guard, 14 3/8in. stock with chequered grip and fore-end, dark horn fore-end cap, the butt with iron-filled disc possibly from a back-position rear-sight, steel butt-plate, blued sling eyes, and older refinish throughout.

Other Notes: This rifle almost certainly started out as a back-position target rifle sporting features such as the turned out lever and prominent locking-catch but was subesquently rebarrelled to a big game rifle by W.J. Jeffery & Co.
