A 16-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN, serial no. 4107 for circa 1846,
with 30in. twist sighted barrels with feint Oxford Street address on the rib, border and scroll engraved patent breeches each with short platinum-inlaid line and pierced platinum plug engraved with a rosette, border and scroll engraved tang and locks, the latter each signed 'PURDEY' (one hammer repaired), figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, border and scroll engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon engraved with initials, and replacement ramrod (iron parts with some surface corrosion marking), London proof marks and barrelsmith's mark 'JP'.
