* A .577 VOLUNTEER PERCUSSION SHORT SERVICE RIFLE OF PATTERN 1856 TYPE,
dated '1859', with 33in. barrel sighted to 1,100 yards and rifled with three grooves, flat border engraved lock marked with a crown and the date on the tail, walnut three quarter stock (old repaired crack between tail of lock and escutcheon), iron mounts, chained nipple-protector (nipple incomplete), silver escutcheon engraved with the initials 'T.V.', iron ramrod, and brass-mounted cork muzzle-plug (iron parts blackened with some surface corrosion), Birmingham proof marks.
