early 19th century, with 38in. swamped two-stage stub twist barrel (fore-sight missing) signed 'CARLISLE' towards the breech, patent breech with gold-lined mark 'MURDOCH' and with gold-inlaid line and gold-lined touch-hole, foliate engraved tang, border engraved flat bevelled lock with stepped-tail and roller, walnut half-stock with chequered grip (toe chipped, cracked around lock), engraved German silver mounts including trigger-guard with acorn finial, silver escutcheon, horn fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod with worm (iron parts mainly discoloured with some pitting).
