A FINE A.A. WHITE ENGRAVED .357 (MAGNUM) 'LAWMAN MKIII' SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, serial no. L18784 for 1976,
2 1/4in. blued barrel with gold-inlaid 'LAWMAN MK III / 357 MAGNUM CTG.' on the left side and engraved with scrollwork against a stippled ground on the barrel, ejector-rod housing and muzzle, blued cylinder engraved with scrollwork and foliage all against a stippled ground, blued frame engraved with further scrollwork, waved lines and panels of chequering and with a gold-inlaid rampant colt on the left side with the engravers initials 'A.A.W.', plain hardwood grips, the top of the grip-strap with the gold-inlaid initials 'BB' (for Bernd Bittner), case-hardened hammer, blued trigger, in as new condition, in close-fitted chamois-lined wooden case with glazed lid.
Other Notes: Certificate in lieu of proof marks.
This revolver was commissioned at the same time as another Lawman MKIII destined for the collection of George A. Strichman, the then President of Colt. The orders were confused and Herr Bittner's revolver was engraved to the same design as Strichman's revolver, an error he was more than happy to accept.
