AN INDO-PERSIAN FLINTLOCK CARBINE,
early 19th century, with 26 3/4in. rebrowned two-stage damascus barrel with belled muzzle and decorated at the muzzle and on the octagonal breech-section with gold-damascened koftgari-work, the breech-section with standing rear-sight and struck with two marks, silver fore-sight, iron tang with gold-damascened decoration and signature, flat bevelled East India Company lock with working replacement cock and dated '1811' on the tail, hardwood half-stock (large chip in front of lock, cracked beneath tail of lock, hairline crack around side-nail) with raised cheek-piece and chequered grip, the right side of the butt with incised crescent moon, iron mounts including scrolled trigger-guard with pineapple finial, two silver escutcheons pinned opposite the lock, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, silver fore-end cap, rear iron sling mount (front mount missing), and rebrowned iron ramrod (one ramrod-pipe missing, some surface corrosion to barrel).
