A 14-BORE FLINTLOCK TRAVELLING PISTOL SIGNED BUSBY & FOX, LONDON,
circa 1820-1, with 5 7/8in. octagonal sighted barrel signed 'LONDON', border engraved breech, platinum-lined touch-hole, foliate and border engraved tang, flat bevelled bolted lock signed 'BUSBY & FOX', engraved with a small trophy, and with stepped tail, semi-rainproof pan and roller (cock replaced), figured walnut full stock (numerous bruises, some chips, cracked in ramrod channel and by side-nail) with chequered butt, engraved iron mounts, and silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons (ramrod missing, surface corrosion throughout), Birmingham proof marks.
Other Notes: Busby & Fox are recorded at 26 New Street, Birmingham between 1820 and 1821.
