A 16-BORE BRASS-BARRELLED FLINTLOCK MILITIA PISTOL SIGNED JEFFERY,
late 18th century, with 9in. swamped barrel engraved with a band of beadwork and signed 'NO.37 BRISTOL TROOP' on the octagonal breech section, border engraved iron tang, flat bevelled lock signed 'JEFFERY' and with stepped tail and roller, walnut full stock with flat-sided butt (cracks, inset repairs and loss to fore-end, butt cracked through and repaired), brass mounts including engraved trigger-guard with acorn finial (tang cracked through and repaired), brass escutcheon engraved with initials, and later horn-tipped ramrod (some wear to brass parts, some shallow pitting to iron parts, mechanism at fault), Tower private proof marks.
