A 20-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL,
circa 1780, with 9 1/2in. swamped barrel signed 'WOGDON LONDON' on the short sighting-flat and engraved with band of beadwork at the breech, foliate and border engraved tang, flat bevelled lock signed 'WOGDON' (cock replaced), walnut full stock (cracked and repaired beneath lock, cracked in front of the trigger-guard and in the ramrod channel) carved in low relief with a shell behind the barrel-tang, silver mounts including spurred pommel and trigger-guard with acorn finial, large silver escutcheon, and later ramrod (some wear throughout, iron parts with some pitting), Tower private proof marks.
