A W. TRANTER PATENT .450 'MODEL 1878 ARMY' SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, serial no. 4073,
6in. blued octagonal sighted barrel, blued frame with W. Tranter patent stamp and serial number, spring loaded cylinder axis pin and cartridge extractor secured by clip under barrel, screw mounted loading gate, retaining much original finish, chequered walnut grips and fixed lanyard ring, matching numbers throughout, Birmingham proof marks

Other Notes: George Kynoch, the owner of the Kynoch Gun Factory (Aston), rented his factory in Lichfield, Aston Cross, from William Tranter and produced complete weapons from parts supplied by William Tranter, many containing Tranter stamp and serial numbers.
