A FINE CASED PAIR OF 17-BORE PERCUSSION OFFICER'S PISTOLS,
circa 1840-50, each with 7in. rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrel signed 'LONDON' on the top flat, border and scroll engraved breech with single platinum-inlaid line and pierced platinum plug, border and scroll engraved tang also incorporating the rear-sight, border and scroll engraved bolted back-action lock signed 'BECKWITH', figured walnut three-quarter stock with chequered butt, blued border and scroll engraved trigger-guard, white metal escutcheon engraved with a crest, white metal barrel-bolt escutcheons, dark horn fore-end cap, iron stirrup ramrod, London proof marks, in associated relined and fitted case with accessories including brass-mounted copper three-way flask, the lid with W.A. Beckwith trade label, the exterior circular brass escutcheon.
