A FINE CASED PAIR OF 20-BORE PERCUSSION BELT PISTOLS,
circa 1835, with 6in. browned twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed 'LONDON' on the top flat, border and scroll engraved case-hardened breeches, border and scroll engraved tangs each incorporating a rear-sight, case-hardened border and scroll engraved side-plates and bolted back-action locks, the former each fitted with a blued iron belt-hook, the latter each signed 'MANTON & SON', figured walnut butts each with chequered grip, case-hardened border and scroll engraved rounded butt-caps each with hinged trap-cover, silver escutcheons, blued iron stirrup ramrods, and retaining some original finish throughout, London proof marks, in relined and refitted oak case with accessories including brass-mounted copper three-way pistol-flask, the lid with John Manton & Son trade label of circa 1820-24, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon.
