A FINE CASED PAIR OF 16-BORE BOXLOCK PERCUSSION BELT PISTOLS SIGNED W. DOOLEY, LIVERPOOL,
circa 1840, each with 5 1/4in. rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrel signed 'W. DOOLEY. LIVERPOOL' on the top flat and engraved with a spray of foliage at the breech, case-hardened border and scroll engraved breech and action, the former with pierced platinum plug, the latter incorporating the rear-sight, chequered walnut butt, case-hardened border and scroll engraved butt-cap with hinged trap-cover, blued border and scroll engraved trigger-guard, gold escutcheon, reblued iron belt-hook, stirrup ramrod, and much original finish, London proof marks, in relined and refitted mahogany case with some accessories including small Dixon brass-mounted copper three-way pistol-flask, the lid with Wm. Dooley trade label, the exterior with shaped brass escutcheon.
