A FINE CASED 16-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION OFFICER'S PISTOL,
circa 1840-50, with 8in. browned twist sighted barrels signed 'BECKWITH. LONDON' on the rib, case-hardened border and scroll engraved breeches each with pierced platinum plug, case-hardened border and scroll engraved tang and back-action locks, the latter each signed 'BECKWITH', figured walnut full stock with chequered butt, case-hardened border and scroll engraved butt-cap with hinged trap-cover, white metal escutcheon engraved with the initials 'CK', white metal barrel-bolt escutcheons, blued border and scroll engraved trigger-guard (partially expertly refinished throughout), and stirrup ramrod, London proof marks, in original fitted oak case lined with green baize with accessories including brass-mounted copper pistol-flask, the lid with small trade label of W.A. Beckwith, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon engraved with the initials 'CK'.
