A FRAMED AND PENCIL-SIGNED HUNTING PRINT BY LIONEL EDWARDS, printed and published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, 28in. x 23in. including wood frame, single mounted and one of a series of the depictions of hunting countries Edwards painted during the 1930s.
Provenance: Lionel Edwards was born 1878 to a doctor in Chester. He was a keen hunting man and combined his feeling for horses and the countryside with a well-honed ability to bring these scenes to life, mainly through watercolour. He served with the army during the Great War and returned to painting, which had become a full-time career for him. He was considered one of the greats in his field along with Aldin and Snaffles.
