A 15-BORE SIDE BY SIDE PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN
circa 1840, with 28in re-browned and shortened barrels, the top-rib signed 'D EGG, LONDON, platinum lines at breech, the back-action locks with makers signature and floral, open scrolls inhabited by pheasants on the l/h lock, the right with similar scroll-work around a hunting dog, dolphin hammers engraved en-suite, each with a circular panel containing a game-bird, walnut half-stock with silver oval escutcheon at wrist (old repairs to forend), steel engraved furniture, long-spurred heel-plate, trigger guard with pineapple finial, ebony ram-rod (the whole lightly worn and re-finished).
