28in. replacement nitro barrels (by the makers), the rib inscribed 'JOSEPH LANG & SON. 102 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.' and scroll engraved at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 choke in both, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish, 14in. figured stock including 3/8in. extension, small repaired chip to left side of fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 9oz., in its makers brass-cornered leather case
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on 8th November 1907 for H.A. Hetherington Esquire for one hundred and forty seven guineas and was the number one gun of a pair. It is described as a top snap 12 bore "best quality" single trigger hammerless ejector with 29" Whitworth steel barrels and 5/16" concave rib.
In 1954 the gun was in the possession of Mr Walter Curry, but was returned to the Company when the gun failed nitro proof and was subsequently rebarrelled.
