30in. sleeved nitro barrels, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, action converted to ejector, flats stamped 'JP', Jones patent rotary-underlever, carved percussion fences, rebounding back-action locks with dolphin hammers, elongated top-strap, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving (some external pitting), brushed finish overall, 14in. well-figured stock (cracked at hand) including steel buttplate, replacement fore-end wood, weight 7lb. 6oz. The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1868 for a Capt. S.P. Sotherby
