* A FINE PERSIAN SHAMSHIR
circa 1750, with 32 1/2in curved blade (patinated), widening and double-edged for the last 10in, twin narrow fullers to both sides, inlaid arabic inscription in gold to the right hand side near the hilt, signature also gold inlaid, possibly reading 'AHERWOLEK' to the back edge, the iron hilt of Persian form fully decorated in gold koftgari-work (minor losses, some pitting to exposed iron surfaces), ivory scales (some shrinkage), TOGETHER WITH its original scabbard of blackened animal skin over wood with raised scroll decoration (some worm, minor losses), two iron suspension bands decorated en-suite with the hilt together with a similar decorated nose-cap (old string-bound repair near tip of scabbard)
