A PAIR OF ENGLISH 44-BORE PERCUSSION BOXLOCK BELT PISTOLS, UNSIGNED
circa 1840, with 4in octagonal, sighted barrels, scroll engraved actions with concealed triggers (nipples corroded and broken), drilled and tapped for belt-hooks, (missing) finely chequered walnut butts with white-metal oval escutcheons to wrist and steel engraved butt-caps with trapdoors, under-barrel ribs with captive swivel rammers, Birmingham proofs (one pistol with small losses to wood at head of stock, both with bruising to metalwork, traces of colour throughout)
