A COLLECTION OF FIVE GERMAN MAUSER RIFLE BAYONETS
the first by 'ALEX COPPEL' for a 'Commission Rifle', with 18 1/2in blade marked 'ERFURT' and dated for 1879 (brasswork polished, muzzle-ring deformed, iron parts with light pitting) complete with matching scabbard (slight shrinkage), the second and third 'M98/05' 'Butcher' models with 14 1/2in saw-back blades, one with large muzzle 'ears' and narrow backstrap by Alex Coppel dated 1913, the other with small 'ears' and wide backstrap (grips replaced) signed 'WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A G OBERNDORF A N' and dated 1916, (both with blade discolouration and pitting to their scabbards), the last two examples for the 'K89K' carbine, one with wood grips, the 10in blade signed 'DURKOPP' and dated 1938, the other by Coppel with bakelite grips, dated 1939, both with mis-matched scabbards complete with leather frogs
