the first French, of standard form with 6 1/2in double-edged blade, marked '41 GONON' at the ricasso, wide steel cross-guard and round section wood hilt (old age-crack), the second German, with 5 3/4in unmarked drop-point blade, slab sided ribbed wooden grips, cross-guard with tear-drop quillion, both with their original scabbards (some discolouration to metal surfaces, French scabbard pitted)
