A 1796 PATTERN OFFICER'S LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE
circa 1800, with strongly curved 29in spearpoint blade, false edged for the last 8 1/2in, the right side with engravings of a serpent, Britannia, a Georgian Kings crown and floral motifs, together with the word 'WARRANTED' in a banner, the left side with the Royal Coat of Arms and motto, martial trophies, floral motifs and the makers name in two banners (blade polished with edge nicks, majority of gilt inlay to engraving remaining), iron stirrup hilt with plain langets and leather covered wire-bound grip (worn, iron parts corroded and cleaned), complete with its steel scabbard with two suspension rings (pitted, rusted through in one place near throat)
