25in. nitro chopperlump barrels with Churchill-ribs gold-inlaid 'XXV' and '1' and '2' , the tubes engraved 'E.J. CHURCHILL (GUNMAKERS) LTD. ORANGE ST. GUNWORKS. LEICESTER SQUARE. LONDON.' and scroll-engraved at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. in all, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, pinless lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, double rolled-edge triggerguards, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured stocks cast off for central vision, weight 5lb. 13oz. (both), in their lightweight leather 'V.C.' motorcase

Provenance: The vendor, a descendant of the first owner, has kindly supplied the following information:

"Commissioned by Captain Lauriston John Arnott, son of Major
Sir John Alexander Arnott, Bart. and Dame Lady Caroline Sydney Arnott,
DBE, OStJ, JP, educated Wellington College. Fought in the Great War and twice
wounded. Gained the rank of Captain in the service of 3rd Battalion,
Royal Irish Rifles. Managing Director and Chairman of the Irish Times.
He succeeded to the title of Sir Lauriston J. Arnott, 3rd Baronet of
Woodlands, Shandon, Co. Cork in 1940.

Inherited by Sir Robert John Arnott, Bart. in 1958. He was educated at
Eton College and Cambridge University. Fought in the Great War in France and
Salonica. Gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of Kings Royal Rifle
Corps. For many years held the record for snipe shooting in Ireland.

Inherited by Sir John Robert Arnott, Bart. in 1966. Educated at
Harrow and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Gained rank of Lieutenant
in the service of the Royal Irish Fusiliers. London Editor of The
Irish Times. Chairman of Phoenix Park Racecourse, Member of the Irish Turf
Club and member of the Irish Racing Board."
