A CASED .230 (RF) NICKEL-PLATED SEVEN-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL TRANTER'S PATENT, serial no. 4361/6116,
circa1885, with 2 1/2in. blued octagonal, sighted barrel, engraved on the top flat 'JAS BEATTIE LONDON', number 4361 on the bottom flat, plated brass frame with blued screws and pins, marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT' above the number 6116, blued cylinder and hammer, smooth rosewood grip with plated brass butt-cap, spur trigger, (plating rubbed but majority remaining together with a fair amount of blued finish) TOGETHER WITH a fine figured walnut fitted and compartmented case lined in blue baize with inlaid shield escutcheon to lid, paper trade-label for James Beattie, a turnscrew, cleaning rod and brush.
