No.2, 30in. black powder only reproved damascus barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON.', some pitting, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and imp. cyl. choke, carved percussion fences, rebounding sidelocks with reblued dolphin hammers with replacement screws, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. figured replacement stock, cracks to underside and to rear of left lockplate, fore-end wood with insert repairs, weight 6lb. 12oz. The makers have kindly confirmed that this shotgun was completed 1869 with 30in. barrels for a Henry Chapman, Esq.
