AN INDO-PERSIAN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED SHAMSHIR
mid 19th century probably for presentation to a high ranking Indian army officer, with highly curved plain, possibly watered 31 1/2in steel blade, the silver-gilt border line engraved hilt with chain knuckle-bow, horn grip panels and silver-gilt 'parrot's beak' pommel, complete with its wooden lined silver-gilt scabbard decorated en-suite with the hilt and featuring further panels of engraved foliage and feathers, the whole retaining the majority of its original gilt finish (minor dents and bruises to scabbard, one crease near throat)
