A 50-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK POCKET PISTOL
circa 1780, with 2 1/4in multi-stage turn off cannon barrel (frozen), centre hammer boxlock action (top jaw early replacement) with 'TURNER' on the left hand side and 'OXFORD' on the right, both within a panel of scrolls, swollen bag-shaped butt with flattened panels inlaid with silver wire loose scrolls, hallmarked silver butt-cap cast in relief featuring a rampant lion atop a ruined castle, fancy vacant silver escutcheon to wrist and sliding trigger guard safety (metal work discoloured, traces of finish)
