circa 1865, with re-blued 32in round barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT', tunnel micro-adjustable foresight, military pattern elevating rearsight and vernier diopter peep sight on tang, border lined flat lock plate with sliding safety, signed 'WHITWORTH RIFLE CO. MANCHESTER', together with the Whitworth crown trademark, figured walnut full-stock with steel furniture chequered at the wrist and fore-grip, trigger guard inscribed 'BEST', three iron barrel bands and nose cap, steel ramrod (metal work re-finished)
