circa 1840, with browned 28in twist steel barrels, signed on the ribs 'C MOORE, 77 ST JAMES'S STREET, LONDON, MAKER TO THE LATE KING' in script and banners, shell and scrolls engraved to breech ends, scroll engraved top tangs, platinum vents, narrow, isolated bar-action fancy border engraved locks signed 'C. MOORE'S PATENT' and engraved with scrolls, scroll engraved hammers, figured walnut half-stocks (number 2208 cracked in antiquity behind lock, number 2209 old repair to forend), chequered at the wrist, silver shield escutcheons behind top tangs engraved with Roman temples and tusks, steel heel plates with engraved spurs, trigger guard tang 'squeeze' safeties, engraved and marked 'SAFETY', rope-twist border engraved trigger guard bows with scroll infill, fancy finial and ramrod throats, both guns retaining their original ramrods and traces of colour TOGETHER WITH their two tiered mahogany, baize lined compartmented case, trade label to the lid and including an 'Irish' style twin nozzle shot flask signed 'DIXON & SONS PATENT' and a 'James Dixon' adjustable powder flask
