A FINE CASED PAIR OF 28-BORE SAW-HANDLED PERCUSSION DUELLING PISTOLS
circa 1840, with re-browned 9in octagonal, sighted damascus barrels, the top flats signed 'COLGAN LIMERICK' in script, engraved breech plugs with platinum and gold lines, long top tang engraved with scrolls, fenced nipple snails, curved back-action locks with sliding safeties, profusely engraved with scrolls and signed 'COLGAN', scroll engraved dolphin hammers, walnut, finely chequered half-stocks with 'saw-grip' extensions bearing a small nickel oval escutcheon, flat bottomed pistol grips with engraved nickel silver bands and small nickel butt-traps, finger-spurred trigger-guards with fancy finials, single set triggers and original rammers TOGETHER WITH their fitted, blue velvet lined compartmented brass cornered mahogany case (lid lining renewed) with a number of accessories including a contemporary three-way flask, ball-mould and two loading/cleaning rods
