A 15-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN, serial no. 9871
circa 1827, possibly converted from flintlock, with twist-steel 30in barrels, rib signed 'JOHN MANTON AND SONS DOVER STREET' (rubbed), scroll and ribbon engraved breech-end and tang, platinum vents, flat, slightly curved border-line and feather scroll with winged serpents engraved locks, signed 'JN MANTON AND SONS PATENT', walnut half-stock, chequered at the wrist, silver rectangular escutcheons to wrist and underside of stock, steel furniture, scroll engraved grip-safety to the trigger guard tang, fancy bordered and scroll engraved bow, pineapple finial and original ramrod, the whole cleaned with some loss to detail.
